GetOPCServers is Failed
We have managed to import OPC-items from several OPC-Servers except one. When we type the IP-Address in the form for adding an item, we get the following error massage: “GetOPCServers is Failed. Make sure that the Node is valid.”
We are able to get the items from this Server with other OPC-Clients. So the Node is valid. The OPC-Server runs on a machine with OS Windows Vista. We assume the DCOM-Settings causing this problem.

Could you please tell me which OPC server you are using and which OPC DA standard it is using (1.0, 2.0, or 3.0?). This sounds like a DCOM configuration issue. Kepware Technologies has a good explanation for configuring DCOM with Windows XP Service Pack 2, but I think it should work for you: http://www.kepware.com/Support_Center/Viewlets/XP_sp2_viewlet_swf.htmlPlease see this slide show for help on configuring DCOM and let me know if you have any questions. You could also try to enter the ip and the server name manually. for example, Node: \\192.168.1.123 and Server Name:Resolvica.Sim
Please see the attached file

I tried to enter the IP and server manually, but it doesn't work. In the cell I tried to add an item following text appears: "Server Error: Method 'Connect' for Object 'IOPCAutoSaver' is failed" I also configurated DCOM as described in the slides, with the same result.
We are using a Yokogawa OPC-Server with OPC DA standard 2.0. Are there any problems known with this server?

We are not aware of any problems with this server. Is there any way you could install OPCEx in the same PC as the server to see if it works? I will try to see if I can find out more about this.

Unfortunally it's not possible to install OPCEx on the same PC as the server. The application for which we wanted to use OPCEx is just 'nice to have'. So we don't want to spend more time on this. Nevertheless OPCEx is a good tool. Perhaps we will find another application. Thanks fo your help.
Best Regards
Simon
